An Introduction to Savannah, Georgia
Savannah's known history began in 1733 when General James Oglethorpe landed on a bluff high along the Savannah River. Oglethorpe named the colony "Georgia" after England's King George II and Savannah became its first city.
In the last 10 years over 50 million people have visited Savannah, drawn by it's beauty and well known reputation of hospitality. Today, it has become one of the country's most popular vacation spots.
