cost is our primary goal."

Matthew Lufburrow was born in Middletown, N.J. in 1787. He came to
Savannah as a Master Mason and a Master Builder circa 1815. He did much
work in Savannah. Two of his homes, rated exceptional by Historic
Savannah, are still standing. He superintended the U.S. Custom House for
John Norris, the architect.
Today, Lufburrow, Inc. continues that fine tradition. The present day
company. was founded in 1959, by Albert B. Lufburrow, who is currently
the Vice-President and main stockholder. The company was an outgrowth of
Lufburrow Realty Co., which was founded by Thomas W. Lufburrow in 1923.
At the time of incorporation, Savannah had a need for a company who had
the knowledge and desire to build quality homes and develop distinctive
neighborhoods. Lufburrow, Inc. was created to fulfill these needs. Since
it’s inception, we have built many homes in the Savannah, Bluffton and
Hilton Head communities. Such developments as South Harbor on Skidaway,
Habersham Woods, 6401 Habersham and Stephenson Court have been built and
developed by our company.
As builders, we believe, as Grandfather Matthew did, in uncompromising
quality. In order to accomplish this goal, we enjoy the privilege of
working on a daily basis with the owner, architect and the designers.
Creating fine homes at a reasonable cost, is our primary goal. The
supervision of the construction is the responsibility of Jerry Miller, A.I.A. In order to build a fine home, it must be created and built like
a piece of handcrafted furniture. It requires special attention and
devotion to detail. This level of attention allows us to only undertake
two or three projects at a time.
About the President:
Stephen R. Lufburrow was born in Savannah Georgia in 1954. He graduated
from The Savannah Country Day School in 1972. Entering The University of
Georgia, he joined Sigma Chi Fraternity, where he held several offices,
including secretary and vice-president. After graduating with degrees in
accounting, business management and real estate, he returned to Savannah
to carry on the family real estate and construction businesses.
In 1978, he married Sara Dearing and has been blessed by the gift of two
children, Matthew and Mary Elizabeth. He attends St. Peters Episcopal
Church where he serves as a Eucharistic Lay Minister and a past Junior
Warden. He serves on the Savannah/Chatham County Metropolitan Planning
Commission and is also privileged to serve as a board member of Savannah
Christian Preparatory School and Secretary of The Sons of the American
Revolution in Georgia, as well as being a member of the Oglethorpe Club,
the Savannah Yacht Club, the Cotillion Club and the German Heritage
Society.
Stephen gained invaluable, "hands on" experience in the building
business, by working for several construction subcontractors during the
summers, while in high school and college. The application of technical
knowledge and management skills learned in the field, as well as in
college, have enabled the company to maintain quality standards in a
world where production is all to often overemphasized at the expense of
quality.
Company Statement:
Lufburrow, Inc. stands strong and stable in a business field that sees
many more failures than successes. We have an extensive track record and
a long list of very satisfied customers. The ability to accurately
estimate a project’s cost is crucial to insure that the homeowner
receives a fair price and that the builder makes a fair profit. We
compile our own estimates in a very time consuming and detailed form
that assures the accuracy of the result. Our past and present clients
are happy to testify to the accuracy of the estimates. Several types of
contract agreements, such as cost-plus, fixed fee, or guaranteed price
are available. The highest quality construction at a reasonable cost,
and unparalleled personal attention is what you will receive when you
choose Lufburrow, Inc. Please contact us today. We promise that you will
be glad you did.
